DANIEL W. CLANTON

Daniel W. Clanton, born in Monticello, Arkansas, is a graduate of Hampton High School, Hampton, Arkansas. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas.

Upon graduation from college, Dan taught English and Social Studies at Conway High School for four years. He entered Arkansas state government in 1972 with the Arkansas Crime Information Center. With ACIC, he was responsible for several training projects and seminars. Dan left ACIC to join the State's Human Resources Center. At the Human Resources Center, Dan conducted workshops in communication, supervision, and management. He consulted with several state agencies, and coordinated the HRC's annual Training Conference. In 1980, Dan left state government to accept a position with Arkansas Power and Light Company.

Within AP&L (and Entergy Corporation, the parent company) Dan was responsible for Training and Organization Development (OD) in a variety of areas. He was a member of several teams that designed and delivered management development courses, and was heavily involved with a major customer service training project. Dan also served as Project Leader for Total Quality Training, which provided training to all employees in AP&L (approximately 5000 people at the time).

In 1993, Dan joined Levi Strauss & Co., holding positions involving OD and Training. He provided Training, OD, Labor Relations, and Work Redesign services to LS&Co. organizations within the U.S, working in all four U.S. time zones. Dan led a training team, was involved in developing new corporate training and performance management designs, provided consultation to partnership efforts between the union and management, and led an organizational redesign effort for a 450-person facility.

In 1998, Dan left Levi Strauss & Co. to form Dan Clanton & Associates Inc., a consulting group dedicated to “helping people work together”. His services include Supervisory and Management Training, Customer Service Training, Team Building, Process Facilitation and many other services in the Human Resource Development area. In addition, Dan teaches at the college level for the University of Phoenix.

Dan is a frequent presenter at conferences and seminars. He is a member of the American Society for Training and Development, and has been both the ASTD Arkansas Chapter President, and its Outstanding Member of the Year. In 2006, Dan received the Lifetime Achievement award from the Arkansas Chapter of ASTD. Dan is also a member of the Arkansas Human Resources Association.Association.
